Gone With the Wind

December 8, 2009

Hi friends!

I hope your Tuesday is going well…just think– it ain’t Monday!

My morning was uneventful.  I caught up on some blogs and e-mails, and then proceeded to grade the rest of those FLIPPIN’ papers.  It was painful, but at least I’m done now!  And as for the round of research papers that they’re turning in on Monday…to quote the great Scarlett O’Hara, “I’ll think about it tomorrow!”

Or the next day.  Or the day after that.  Or at the last possible moment before final grades are due.

After I finished grading, I contemplated hopping on the treadmill for a workout.  But then I decided to give myself a deep conditioning hair treatment instead.  Sometimes, you gotta do what you gotta do.  I am in DESPERATE need of a hair cut.  I’ve gotten *ahem* two haircuts since my sister’s wedding in July 2008.  How’s that for saving money on beauty treatments?  You see, I wanted to grow my hair out for my wedding (May 2009), and I guess I just got kind of…lazy.  Plus, now that we’re in Altoona, I don’t really have the inside scoop on where to go, who to see, etc., so I don’t want to make a bad choice and walk out looking like Jon Heder in Blades of Glory.  Anyway…my solution as of late has been to slather on conditioning treatments an ignore the rampant split ends that are taking the rest of my hair hostage.

And then I broke for lunch.

Today’s lunch was yummy and simple– ever since I saw Karla’s delicious eggs and beans post, I’ve been craving scrabled eggs, so that’s exactly what I had!

This lunch included: my last Ezekiel wrap (love these!), filled with scramled egg (1 egg plus 2 egg whites), ketchup, and string cheese (gotta use these up before we leave), plus an apple and a clementine.  I also enjoyed some chocolate-covered gojis and a biscoff cookie from a package I found in my grading bag– I had totally forgotten about putting it aside!  It was like Christmas in…well, December!  I had one of the cookies and gave the other one to the hub.

Sunny fruit:

I’m off to campus in a bit– Ryan is handing out my student evals today, so that should be interesting 🙂  Actually, I’ve always gotten really good student evals– not because of my mad teaching skillz, but because I’m such a freakin’ pushover!  I’m probably the easiest teacher they get in four years of college!

See you for dinner– I have no idea what we’re making, so I guess I should start thinking about that.  No, no I can’t think about this now.  I’ll go crazy if I do!  I’ll think about it tomorrow!

Sorry…slipped back into Scarlett mode for a second there.  I promise– I’ll think about dinner before tomorrow.

Have a great afternoon!

Sometimes ‘t is only right to choose hair over exercise.

I’ve been loving my mandarins lately – citrus fruit brings such a sunny touch to the winter, don’t you agree?

I have no idea what I am making for dinner, either!

Where do you buy the Ezekial Wraps?

We get them at our local health food store– they’re in the freezer section with all of the other sprouted grain products. They’re really good– very chewy!

Patti, I bet they would have them at that Central Market in the town center.

As someone from Louisiana, I think I can safely say that I know A LOT of women who would fit that description 🙂

Ezekial wraps are like my favorite find ever.

Also, I too have been skipping the beauty treatments to “grow it out.” Roots are looking loooovely.

Hey, do you want me to set up an appointment for you with Lowell? I know he would love to see you, and I bet he’d fit you in. Just let me know. The Lady Seagull luncheon went well – a grand time was had by all (well, maybe not “grand”, but we had fun!)

I guess so…although I’m kind of embarrased for him to see my hair in the state that it’s in now. But yeah, if he can fit me in before we leave for Seattle, that would be awesome!
